Apple adds extra protection to iPhones and iPads by blocking anything plugged in (like a USB device) when the screen is locked. This helps keep your personal information safe if your phone is ever lost or stolen.
But some trusted devices, like your Clickfree , need to stay connected while your phone is resting or locked — otherwise, they can’t finish saving your files properly.
If this setting isn’t turned on:
-
Your phone might not recognize Clickfree
-
Or it might disconnect halfway through a backup
Clickfree is a safe and secure device, and turning this setting on simply tells your iPhone or iPad:
-
-
- “It’s okay — I trust this device, let it stay connected.”
-
This helps ensure your backups go smoothly, with no interruptions.
1. Open the Settings App
-
Look for the Settings icon on your home screen. (little grey gear ⚙️.)
-
Tap it once to open.
-
-
-
Tip: If you can’t find it, swipe down on your home screen and type “Settings” into the search bar.
-
-
-
2. Scroll Down and Tap “Face ID & Passcode”
-
Once you’re in Settings, scroll down slowly until you see a menu option that says:
Face ID & Passcode -
If your device uses a fingerprint instead of facial recognition, it might say:
Touch ID & Passcode -
Tap this option.
-
-
-
Tip: You’re looking for the option that controls your security settings.
-
-
-
3. Enter Your Device Passcode
-
Your iPhone or iPad will now ask you to type in the passcode you normally use to unlock your device.
-
Enter the passcode using the number pad.
-
-
-
Tip: This is just to confirm it's really you making changes.
-
-
-
4. Scroll Down to “Allow Access When Locked”
-
After entering your passcode, you’ll see a list of security settings.
-
Keep scrolling down until you find a section titled:
Allow Access When Locked-
-
-
This section controls what your phone allows while the screen is off.
-
-
-
5. Turn ON “USB Accessories”
-
In this list, find the option labeled USB Accessories.
-
You’ll see a small switch next to it.
Here’s what to do:
-
If the switch is grey, it’s OFF.
-
Tap it once — it should turn green. That means it’s ON.
Turning this ON tells your iPhone or iPad it’s okay to stay connected to a trusted device like Clickfree.
