If you’re using an OPPO smartphone with the Clickfree backup device and app, you may need to enable a feature called OTG (On-The-Go) and allow certain app permissions for everything to work smoothly.
What Is OTG and Why Do You Need It for Clickfree?
OTG (On-The-Go) is a setting that lets your OPPO phone communicate with external USB devices — like the Clickfree backup adapter.
Without OTG:
🚫 Your phone may not detect the Clickfree device.
🚫 The app may show “No device detected” or fail to start backups.
🚫 You won’t be able to transfer photos, videos, or contacts from your OPPO phone to Clickfree.
That’s why enabling OTG is required on OPPO phones for Clickfree to work properly.
In addition, you need to allow permissions in the Clickfree app so it can access your photos, videos, contacts, and storage for backup.
How to Enable OTG on OPPO Phones
Follow these steps:
-
Open Settings on your OPPO phone.
-
Scroll down and tap Additional Settings (sometimes under System Settings).
-
Look for OTG Connection or OTG.
-
Turn ON the OTG toggle.
Important: On some OPPO models, OTG automatically turns off after 10 minutes of inactivity.
Before using Clickfree, always make sure OTG is re-enabled if it turned off.
How to Allow Clickfree App Permissions
When you first install the Clickfree app, it will ask for several permissions. If you didn’t allow them, follow these steps to check and enable:
- Go to Settings → App Management → Clickfree.
- Tap Permissions.
- Ensure the following are allowed:
-
Storage / Files and Media → Allow
-
Photos and Videos → Allow
-
Contacts → Allow (if you want to back up contacts)
-
Location → Sometimes needed for OTG detection (allow “While Using”)
Tip: Without these permissions, the Clickfree app cannot access or back up your data.
Why This Matters for Clickfree
Clickfree works by connecting directly to your OPPO phone via USB-OTG.
If OTG is off or permissions are missing:
-
The app can’t detect the backup device.
-
Backups will fail or show errors.
-
You may think the app or device is broken, when it’s really just a settings issue.
🔧 Troubleshooting Tips
If you’re still having issues:
- Unplug Clickfree and plug it back in after enabling OTG.
- Restart your OPPO phone.
- Try a different port or cable (if using a USB-C adapter).
- Update your OPPO system software to the latest version.
