Wondering if your Android phone or tablet works with Clickfree?
One key thing to check is your Android version — this affects whether the app can install and whether backups work properly.
This article will help you find your Android version and explain why it’s important.
Why This Matters for Clickfree
The Clickfree app relies on certain Android system features to back up your photos, videos, and contacts.
If your phone is running an older Android version, you might:
Have trouble connecting to the Clickfree device (especially OTG connections)
Miss out on the latest Clickfree features or app updates
Experience bugs or performance issues
Clickfree works best on Android 8.0 (Oreo) and higher.
While Android 8.0–10.0 devices are supported, they can sometimes feel noticeably slower — especially during large backups — due to older hardware and system limitations.
For the smoothest and fastest experience, we recommend using Clickfree on Android 11 or newer when possible.
Pro Tip: If you’re using an older phone (Android 8–10), try backing up smaller batches (like photos first, then videos) to reduce slowdowns.
Step-by-Step: Check Your Android Version
1. Open your phone’s Settings
Look for the ⚙️ gear icon in your app drawer or swipe-down menu.
2. Scroll to About Phone or About Device
On some phones, it may be under System > About Phone.
3. Look for Android Version
You’ll see something like:
Android Version: 12
Android 11
Version 10
Tip: The higher the number, the newer the version.
4. Optional: Check for Updates
Go to Settings > System > Software Update or Settings > Software Update.
Tap Check for Updates to install the latest version if available.
What if My Android Version Is Below 7?
Unfortunately, Clickfree requires Android 8.0 or higher.
If you’re on an older version:
Check if your device has software updates available
If not, you may need to use a newer device for Clickfree backups
