If the Clickfree app is not responding, keeps asking for permissions, or the USB icon stays RED, your phone may be running low on storage space.
When a phone is nearly full, apps may slow down or stop working properly — including Clickfree.
The good news is that freeing up some space often helps fix the issue.
Note: Android phones can look a little different depending on the brand, but these steps work for most devices.
Step 1: Open Settings
On your phone, open the Settings app.
Step 2: Tap “Storage”
Look for:
Storage
On some Samsung phones, you may instead need to go to:
Battery and Device Care → Storage
Once opened, you’ll usually see:
- How much storage your phone has
- How much free space is left
- What is using the most space (Photos, Videos, Apps, etc.)
Ways to Free Up Space
Delete Unwanted Photos or Videos
Photos and videos are usually the biggest reason phones run out of space.
To remove them:
- Open your Gallery app or Google Photos
- Delete photos or videos you no longer need
- After deleting them, open the Trash or Recently Deleted folder
- Empty the Trash folder completely
Deleted files still take up space until the Trash is emptied.
Remove Apps You No Longer Use
Unused apps can also take up a lot of storage space.
To uninstall apps:
- Open Settings
- Tap Apps
- Select an app you no longer use
- Tap Uninstall
Clear App Cache (Safe Option)
This removes temporary files that apps save over time.
In most cases, this does not delete your personal photos, videos, or important information.
To clear cache:
- Open Settings
- Tap Apps
- Select an app
- Tap Storage
- Tap Clear Cache
Samsung Phones: Extra Cleanup Tools
Many Samsung phones include built-in cleanup tools that make freeing up space easier.
To find them:
- Open Settings
- Tap Battery and Device Care
- Tap Storage
Samsung may show options for:
- Junk file cleanup
- Duplicate files
- Large files taking up space
Try Clickfree Again
After freeing up some storage space:
- Fully close the Clickfree app
- Open the app again
- Reconnect your Clickfree device
- Try the backup again
If the issue was caused by low storage space, the app may now respond properly and the USB icon may turn GREEN again.
