Using Clickfree on a Windows computer is simple — and in most cases, you do not need to install any additional software.
Your Clickfree works much like a standard USB flash drive or external hard drive, allowing you to easily access, copy, organize, and restore your files directly through File Explorer on your PC.
This is the recommended method for most Windows users because it’s:
- Simple
- Fast
- Reliable
- Compatible with most Windows computers
What You Can Do Using File Explorer
Using File Explorer, you can:
- View backed-up photos and videos
- Copy files to your computer
- Transfer files onto your Clickfree
- Organize folders manually
- Restore files to a new device
- Delete files you no longer need
No syncing or special setup required.
Step 1: Connect Your Clickfree
- Plug your Clickfree into your computer.
- Give Windows a few moments to recognize the device.
- Once connected, the Clickfree should appear automatically.
You may see:
- A notification pop-up
- The device appear in File Explorer
- A new drive listed under This PC
Step 2: Open Clickfree in File Explorer
- Open File Explorer
- Select This PC from the left-hand menu
- Locate your Clickfree device under:
- Devices and Drives
- Double-click the Clickfree drive to open it
You should now see the folders and files stored on the device.
Step 3: View or Copy Your Files
From here, you can:
- Open folders
- View photos and videos
- Copy files to your computer
- Drag and drop files between your PC and Clickfree
To copy files:
- Select the files or folders you want
- Drag them onto your Desktop, Pictures folder, or another location on your computer
You can also:
- Right-click → Copy
- Then right-click → Paste
Common Backup Folder Locations
Depending on how your Clickfree was used, your files may appear inside folders such as:
- DCIM
- Backup
- Photos
- Videos
- Documents
If you don’t immediately see your files, try opening the available folders one-by-one.
Safely Removing Your Clickfree
Before unplugging the device:
- Click the Safely Remove Hardware icon near the clock in the bottom-right corner of Windows
- Select your Clickfree device
- Wait for the confirmation message
- Disconnect the Clickfree safely
This helps prevent file corruption or storage issues.
Important Notes
- No additional desktop software is required for normal Windows use
- File Explorer provides direct access to your files
- This is the simplest and most reliable method for most customers
- Your experience may vary slightly depending on your Windows version and USB permissions
